Fashion Forefathers

On my walk home from work, I seen footsteps on the side of the road in the sand.

It made me wonder is it the footsteps of my father?

And if it were should I follow his path knowing it is not mine to be taken.

Where have these steps taken him? If I follow will I have met his destiny at the end of this trek?

Would I be taking steps backwards into the abyss of a past...

Does time sit still or dwell in it's own imagination, and I sometimes wonder if fashion feels the same.

Twisted Senses

The sewing machine idles and speaks in tongues embrace the watchers nights come fourth with new ideas, ideologies, and philosophies.

and somehow fashion is loomed in all this but trends are becoming endangered species as everyone seeks out a different identity to weld yourself to your own reflection, to fuse a thought with a thread to bind a piece of the whole.

at the final chakra you find yourself at the state of perfekt tension.

Something ill this way comes

Working on this new jacket 3/4 cut length a name is yet to be given to this piece of Perfektion.

Yet for all seekers do not find the right fitting garments until they have found the underground.

Summer Solstice Collection

 My heart shattered into a thousand pieces when the thread broke that held the ties between fashion and mainstream. What have we woven into society that has confused the minds of the youth, to think that they are twins from separate mothers.

 What happened to the times when fashion was not a uniform but a sense of expression of the self?

 I reflect back through the looking glass sifting through each of my reflections to find the styles that

I thought too, may have been lost forever.

 Then there I be amongst all other reflections that had looked through the same glass, and we then remembered when we once were individuals. and that we had style that was not cookie cutter fashion, but raw, cutting edge, & so inspirational.

 It could be seen on the walls, in our clothes, and our hair accompanied by a dance or a name each of our character famous in its own light.

 These times seem to have died long ago, the then all of these reflections of the looking glass reminded me that history repeats itself, and that time is coming.

 We here at the Perfekt Tension labs are evolving rapidly to meet this shift in the Era of Fashion that is rising up out of the looking glass.

2.35 Am still Sewing...

Sewing is a race against time with no finish line, I do not think people understand how much harder this is than it seems. I am not complaining by any means. but since I have learned how to sew i have a new appreciation for well constructed garments.

We strive to keep the Love in our art here at the studio and it shows in our work. Timeless pieces that will not fall apart easily. I have often wondered what it would be like if the whole worlds option was strictly H&M would anyone step up and make better quality garments or would we just blindly follow, in a world of fast fashion mass production. 

As the industry devolves the underground is constantly changing and rapid evolving street culture is changing the ways people today perceive fashion.

One by one we wake up looking for our individual style stepping out of the mirror into being one with its reflection instead of reflecting another.

More about the jacket, they are denim, great for spring/summer months, or even in the winter if you were indoors.

a twist of Asymmetrical line but Haute enough to be classified edgy.

inspired by discussions of apocalypse to the "end times" fused with world of warcraft and steam punk daymares...but in a marketable sense. 

I love this song at times it reminds me of the industry, because we work so hard to make new styles its hard to keep up but not if you are ahead of the game.

Time fades into the future and trends do not seem to evolve but at there own pace but in the underground designs flow like a river through the vast ocean of imagination.

Stillness of black

  Have you ever worked so hard for something that it seems as if life stands completely still for that brief moment, like your starring deep into a black hole expecting to witness change in its movement.

  The only way to see its change is by feeling it, how can you witness anything that moves as dark matter unless it births a spark of light in which in its reflection you may see its movement but then there would be no space for imagination.

  Thats why at times of feeling lost & uninspired Closing your eyes and returning to the darkness, is like going back to the womb, the innocence is felt through out your being.

  Time after time we fade in and out of great ides, but only action causes results how many times have we let our thoughts fade into nothing.

  Of those thoughts how do we know that possibilities of changing the world might have taken place since we did not execute these ideas, we individually decide what is to come into being through out the ages.

  So my friends please do not give up on yourself even at the lowest points in our lives we can find solitude behind closed eyes. 

Designer Struggles...

Dear Readers,

  Twice upon a time I have been told; "YOU! are NOT a Designer!", this is a true story.

Happened once in school and another time in the industry. 

       These words are not easy to hear but its up to you to decide if it is the truth or not. 

So my point is, if you are currently enrolled in fashion school or any art school the key to surviving is not giving up, if you find yourself saying "The reason why I am going to school for fashion is...

      BECAUSE:

      "I KNOW HOW TO SHOP" <----common answer ( I was there I heard it)

then you might as well Drop Out now unless you want to be a buyer or something in the Consumer field, because shopping sense does not make you a good designer, it just means your late. 

Fashion like any other secret society gains a lot of hype and mysticism about it we conjure in some venue, dress up like we don't usually dress on a daily basis and gather for the majik to be unveiled why is unlocking this door key to great designer status? 

 I feel as if the key to fashion is within the pulse of the designer themselves, To know shopping is one thing but to direct how one shops is another and to blend all this thought together with a blank slate to feed the masses three seasons before it's time is truly knowing how to shop...

but then again most the Mainstream clothing now days is so bleh.

Truthfully I have learned a lot in the Last 6 months we have been open for business on the streets of Portland, Or. 

The amazing thing about just designing from the pulse is that you get true feedback about your clothing instead of just, "oh i like that cut" it's functional sophisticated artsy look causes sparks of conversation.

seizing the moment of silence and capturing all the designs that might be lingering inside the thought of everything around you, just remember the simple fact that it is all...Design. 

And lastly...if you feel like there is no hope left for inspiration, stay up for 1 day and a half until you are delirious, grab your pins, scissors, dress form and muslin...

P.S. Listen to No One that tells you, You cannot Design.
